My friend was only familiar with the NF chests as far as desolation. SO i took him out to see the one in Nightfallen Jahai, and Domain of Pain. The domain of pain one is one of the hardest ones to get to, and Gaile said earlier that the ones later in the game yielded greater rewards (something about all chests not being created equal). Imagine my shock when we get there and my friend pulls a grape from the chest... and only 2 plat (This chest is supposed to yield +3plat - what i got). I must say that I am painfully disappointed with the Domain fo Pain chest. If it's going to be dropping grapes, it's hardly worth the effort.

the chances for golds go down the more you open them. its been known for a while now

yeah so the first one or two times is basically always golds and max gold/plat but after 3 or so times it drops and if you get a professor plumb the amount of moolah you receive drops too

but this was the first time i've ever touched the free chests in torment.. so i just think it's funny that i got like a grape and around 2plat from it. Oh wells..

you opened all of the ones up to that point recently though right? that counts in the equation too. that's why its been suggested that you open the chest farthest in the game that you can access and work your way back to maximize what you get.

I'm not sure how the quality thing really works. I rarely opened the chests and unless it was on the way to where ever I was already going. My ele still hasn't made her first full run.

She skipped the hard one in RoT and got the easy one then made her way down the line, hardest to easiest. Getting the Do Not Touch in Vabbi, the second one she's ever opened in Vabbi and the first time she's ever opened that one, got a grape. EVERYTHING was one point off from being perfect.
After sucking my teeth for a few minutes I went to the one in Kourna by the Crossroad mission and it gave me a ruby. I had already opened this one once. Zone through the portal and got a gold, also having already opened this one. (Those two and the one in Moddock are the only ones I had ever opened before, with pretty much all my chars, not just my ele.)

Yeah... I took a break for the rest of the night after that.

It doesn't matter if he's never touched that particular chest before; if he opens the other free chests often, the quality of all of them go down even if he never touches the rest.

So, your friend probably just opened a couple of the other free chests within the last week or something.

Anyways, crap luck on that one. Overall I've found those chests to be of wildly varying quality, and have gotten a few purps out of them. C'est la vie.

Do you just get grapes? and the money you receive goes down? or does the value of the weapons dropped only go down...

Because if the money stays around how much you get in those treasure chests, im gonna keep doin it on all three chars, 45k ftw minimum.

My necro hasn't had his chests reset in over 3 months now.

I've waited much longer than a month and still get grape. It is a bummer. I am so upset at the game changes in loot scaling and drops and the change in normal mode and hard mode, I am thinking of finding another game. They have it made so hard to make money the only way is to run a bot. And what do they really care about bots, the bot has to buy a copy of the game too. If they ban the bot they just buy another copy of the game and start botting again.

^Same problem on my Ranger lol. Opened them the first time, then opened them again when their first restock was and havent been able to open them on that character since.
